The following review is a fan review of Insane Championship Wrestling ‘There’s Something About Mary(Hill)’ by Pixie.

The night was opened by Billy Kirkwood and Sean David who had seemingly lost his mic en route to the ring. The crowd were welcomed back to ICW’s birthplace in true ICW style with some Jokes going over many peoples heads as well as Billy’s usual routine which really got them warmed up and ready for night of kick ass wrestling.

Billy introduced MC Tommy who began introducing the match only to be interrupted by Mark Dallas who told him to get in the back. Billy then took on the role of MC for the first match which would be the first title defence of the night.

Mark Coffey approached the ring to a fantastic fan reaction which quickly turned sour as Mikey Whiplash made his entrance. The match got underway with both men looking strong and many traditional wrestling moves and holds. Around half way through the match after a vicious Irish whip into the turnbuckle the middle rope sprung free and both men had to improvise on the outside of the ring. Due to the set up and the fact that the venue was seated it was hard to see what exactly went on when they left the ring. It wasn’t long however until they had taken advantage of the fact that the guardrails weren’t fastened together and they were used as weapons. Once the ring was fixed the action continued before both men hit each other with a double clothesline and Coffey hit Whiplash with a pump handle slam to pick up the win and become ICW’s new Zero-G Champion.

MC Tommy comes back into the ring to introduce Team Tommy for the MC battle which consisted of Mike Musso, Lewis Girvan and Euan G Mackie. Charles Boddington was also supposed to be there but there was nothing said about his absence. The crowd were providing super heat for Tommy from the second he stepped through the curtain right up until the point where Simon Cassidy manager of Team Smiddy stepped on to the stage to introduce his team which consisted of Grado, DCT and Solar. The match got underway with Grado and Musso squaring off but it wasn’t long until Lewis Girvan and Solar were putting on a fantastic display of why wrestling in this country is on the up. After a few minutes Solar tagged in DCT who managed to successfully Irish whip all three members of Team Tommy into the turnbuckle, they then fell one by one Musso on his knees, Girvan bent over behind him and Mackie leaning on Girvan, it was a very entertaining spot but was quickly broken up by Musso clearly not wanting to be seen in an uncompromising position. After a short time Lewis Girvan threw in the towel and walked backstage closely followed by Euan G Mackie who insisted that JD Bravo strapped him to a trolley for moving chairs. This then left Team Tommy only one member, it wasn’t long before Tommy was appealing to the crowd to see if any off duty wrestlers would help him. Adam Shame and Rob McKai offered their help but it was never going to be plain sailing with these two involved as they started brawling amongst themselves in which McKai threw a bin one end of the room to the other and it landed upright on the stage. It wasn’t long before Grado Pinned Musso securing the win for Team Smiddy.

After the match Tommy stood up to Team Smiddy before being tapped on the shoulder only to be hit with an awesome forearm by Simon Cassidy.

ICW owner Mark Dallas comes to ringside and announces that the following match was an exhibition match and was supposed to see PBW Academy trainees Tommy Marx and Saqib Ali take on Fight Club. He then announced that fight club had not shown up nor had they contacted anyone at ICW since Edinburgh. The match would now be Tommy Marx vs. Saqib Ali.

The match got underway with both trainees giving their all and receiving a fantastic reaction from the crowd. Ali got Marx up on the turnbuckle and was about to hit him with his finisher when Fight club entered through the crowd and jumped into the ring. Kid Fite who has trained both men got on mic and commended them for how well their match was going. He then invited Saqib to carry out his move, but as he walked towards Marx he was grabbed by Liam Thomson who hit him with the backstabber before he and Kid Fite started attacking both trainees. This then prompted a Bucky boys chant from the crowd resulting in their music hitting and the crowd going mad. The Bucky boys came to ringside before the wee man announced that himself Stevie and Lambrinii were injured, Davy boy however was raring to go and offered to take on both members of fight club single-handedly. The three men brawled before fight club turned their attention to Lambrinii and Stevie attacking them both only stopping when Mark Dallas came to ringside and told fight club that they would be fired if they continued.

Sara came to the ring still a reformed character and said a few words about being sent to spread the message of David the Beloved. Was quite hard to hear what exactly was said due to the heckling from the crowd.

The next match was for the ICW tag team championships and saw Team CK (w. James R Kennedy) take on the New Age Kliq (c) the match started in a strange way with Team CK getting the upper hand and really having the crowd hating them. The match continued at a steady pace with Chris Renfrew and BT Gunn overpowering the efforts of team CK on several occasions. The action then swung in CK’s favour before Dickie Divers climbed onto the ring apron clutching his billiard ball knocking both members of Team CK out cold before the other two members of the NAK hit their double stop finisher on Christopher, Kenneth and then on James R Kennedy picking up the win and retaining their belts which had been defaced in true NAK style.

After the interval it was time for the first of the open challenge matches which had everyone speculating on who was going to answer James Scott’s challenge. The answer came in the form of a rather peculiar gentleman in some blue spangly trunks and wearing a top hat and cane, none other than ICW veteran Rob Cage! The match got underway and was quite a fast paced match that Scott dominated throughout and ultimately he picked up the win after delivering a low blow and a spear to Cage.

Carmel then came to the ring and delivered what has to be one of the best shoot promos I have ever seen. She called out every member of the Fierce Females roster ahead of their show later this month listing their faults and telling them exactly what she thought. All apart from ICW Fierce Females champion Kay Lee Ray, she asked Kay Lee to join her in the ring as she refused to bitch behind her back. Kay Lee Ray got into the ring and Carmel told her what she thought of her before telling her and the crowd that if it wasn’t for the red hair dye Kay Lee would still be the same girl who she beat the crap out of 3 years ago in the very same venue. Following this she slapped Kay Lee and left the ring only to be grabbed from behind and dragged back to the ring. After some back and forth Carmel fetched a table from under the ring and attempted to put KLR through it but after a reversal she found herself being the one taking the fall.

Afterwards Kay Lee Ray got the mic and told Carmel that three years ago their feud started and tonight she had ended it she went on to say that she had bigger problems in the form of a girl twice her size and a girl quadruple her size wanting her belt from her but she promised that she would still walk out ICW Fierce Females Champion.

It was then time for the second open challenge of the night and after Wolfgang got in the ring the crowd fell silent awaiting the music of the returning ICW star that would face him. After a short time and still no music, Red Lightning who was fired in May appeared behind the audience and made his way through the crowd to the ring. He got on the mic as Mark Dallas came to ringside. Red then asked that if he won then could he be given his contract back, after a short while Dallas agreed and the match got underway. The match was a perfect example of both men’s work and seen several submission holds as well as the match becoming a street fight at one point and lightning finding himself being thrown against shutters before being dragged back inside where the match continued before Wolfgang got the pin. After the match the NAK attack Wolfgang, Lightning came to his aid but they were becoming over powered. When a hooded Lionheart jumped the barrier as he has done at the previous shows. He delivered a rock bottom to BT Gunn resulting in his shoe flying over the crowd and the NAK retreating. Afterwards Wolfgang and Lionheart shake hands but Lightning refuses and leaves the ring.

The final match saw Jack Jester take on Joe Coffey. The match didn’t disappoint as many had thought it would. It was full of action and unlike Jesters usual style the crowd were given some true grappling action with each hold making an impact. At one point both men were attempting to shoulder barge each other off the ropes until Jester pushed Joe into the ropes and he went over losing a tooth in the impact. After this it seemed that Joe was taking no prisoners, even at one point trying to use Jesters famous corkscrew in his lariat. After quite a substantial match Jester picked up the win before being attacked by both Coffey brothers. Mikey Whiplash appeared at ringside sporting his trademark face paint. Which had many fans confused as to whether he had come to the aid of the man he will face at next months Fear and Loathing VI, they weren’t waiting long as Jam O’Malley who Whiplash realigned with in Edinburgh attacked Jester from behind before he an whiplash unleashed a brutal attack on jester resulting in whiplash hitting a horrific piledriver onto a guardrail which he had thrown into the ring.

After this Jester didn’t get up and suddenly the entire roster flooded out from the back, some restraining Whiplash and don’t coming to the aid of a clearly injured Jester. Mark Dallas then requested that the crowd left the venue so that medical assistance could be administered.
