Discovery Wrestling May 2018 Preview

by Billy Strachan

This coming Sunday, Discovery Wrestling return to The Jam House in Edinburgh. After their February event was cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions, Discovery Wrestling will be looking to make up for lost time, especially with the upcoming Fite TV show. More debuts with German veteran Bad Bones along with ‘The King of Dong Style’ Joey Ryan.

The one match that isn’t confirmed as of writing is Andy Wild’s challenge to the aforementioned Bad Bones. Wild earned his Discovery Wrestling roster spot by winning The Disco Derby in January. He’s not wasting any time in showing why he should be on the roster by going after the ‘The German Psycho’.

The other special guest is Joey Ryan, famed for his groinal antics, he comes up against ‘The International Sex Hero’ DCT. A big match for DCT who has had little success in Discovery Wrestling so far. He was the fans choice to face Joey Ryan so he has the backing of those in The Jam House. It will be a spectacle, a macho contest with plenty of testosterone in the ring.

Shady Nattrass returns after a stint in The Disco Derby, bringing Josh Terry back to Discovery Wrestling to face the popular duo of Jackie Polo and Mark Coffey, Polo Promotions. Josh Terry was impressive during his previous turn in Discovery Wrestling, scoring a victory against Delsin Dayre and Lucha DS. They are up against one of the best teams in the UK in Polo Promotions who have had a run of bad luck in Discovery Wrestling recently, losing a four way in December and being eliminated in a Uncivil War qualification match. A lot of that bad luck was down to the recently disbanded Buffet Club, so with them gone, Polo Promotions can concentrate in building momentum to the next Uncivil War, whenever that may be.

The record holding former Y Division Champion Lewis Girvan takes on Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational Semi Finalist Chris Ridgeway in what will have the potential to be a show stealer. Ridgeway has already tussled with Girvan’s King of Catch brethren Aspen Faith and since losing the Y Division Championship Lewis Girvan has yet to score a singles win in Discovery Wrestling but has had better luck in tag team competition. It will be interesting to see if Girvan can bounce back with a rematch for the Y Division Championship on the horizon.

The charismatic Fite Network take on the dastardly House of Saynt. Christopher Saynt brings a new member, ‘The Gazelle’ Grant McIvor. After months trying to get rid of Michael Chase, Saynt and Doros are now free to try and get Saynt a shot at the Y Division Championship that he feels he richly deserves but have to get past the veteran Kid Fite and ‘Scudmaster Sexy’ Krieger.

Michael Chase once again puts his Discovery Wrestling roster spot against Ravie Davie, initially this was due to take place in February but, as already mentioned, that show was cancelled. Chase has been determined to rid Discovery Wrestling of Ravie Davie after blaming him for losing to Christopher Saynt months back.

In the first of two title matches, Sammii Jayne defends the Discovery Wrestling Women’s Championship against Kasey. Sammii has already turned back challenges from Little Miss Roxxy and Kay Lee Ray. Kasey will give her a tough test but Sammii won’t be short of confidence as the self proclaimed ‘Main Event Empress’.

Joe Coffey has his toughest challenge to date when he defends the Y Division Championship against BT Gunn and Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational winner Aspen Faith, who is cashing in his title contract. A huge triple threat featuring two men that have challenged for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship in Discovery Wrestling and the one of the hottest prospects in British wrestling today. So another possible match to steal the show.

All this plus former tag team partners Deviation and Dave Conrad collide.

Doors open at 3pm, with limited tickets on the door. One not to miss.
