Kamikaze Pro have confirmed the main event for their August 27th event, ‘Run This Town’ the Collingwood Centre in Great Barr, Birmingham.
It has been announced that “Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne will face “All Day Star” Ryan Smile in Great Barr on August 27th with the loser leaving Kamikaze Pro forever.
Kamikaze Pro announced the match with the following:
The Main Event for Kamikaze Pro – Run This Town on August 27th will be the most important match in Kamikaze Pro history!
It will see the 2 people who both feel they ‘Run This Town’ battle for ultimate bragging rights. This town isn’t big enough for the both of them and the loser of this match unfortunately has to leave Kamikaze Pro!
‘Bruiserweight’ Pete Dunne vs ‘All Day Star’ Ryan Smile
Both Pete Dunne & Ryan Smile were born and bred right here in Birmingham. They initially made a name for themselves long before Kamikaze Pro existed battling each other up and down the UK. They are complete polar opposites with Dunne, who has focused more on his technique and striking, Smile has concentrated on being a daredevil with no limits. Dunne speaks only when necessary, whereas Smile doesn’t shut up. In our opinion, Dunne is the best in-ring wrestler currently plying his trade on these shores and Smile is an athletic freak of nature, the best speaker and the most charismatic performer on the British Wrestling scene. At one point, co-stars on BBC3 show People Like Us. Smile & Dunne have had a very up and down relationship over the years. These 2 have been the 2 focal points of Kamikaze Pro since its inception. While Smile has cleaned up in terms of titles, Dunne forged a reputation as one of the top technical wrestlers in the UK. Ryan likes to claim he is the face of Kamikaze Pro which means that Pete has most definitely been its heart and soul.
Formerly known as ‘Dynamite’, from the very 1st Kamikaze Pro Show where he took on 1 of the top wrestlers in the UK in El Ligero. Dunne has taken on the best opposition in the world. He has wrestled more international wrestlers in Kamikaze Pro than any other wrestler. Including Davey Richards, Jay Lethal, Johnny Gargano, Steve Corino, Trent Barreta, Juventud Guerrera, Timothy Thatcher, Andrew Everett & Jigsaw. He is a firm fan favourite with the crowd who are constantly wowed and amazing by his ability within a wrestling ring.
While Pete has been in there with some of the best independent wrestlers in the world. Smile has made a name for himself going against former WWF Stars such as X-Pac, Carlito, D’Lo Brown, Sabu, Hardcore Holly, Too Cool & Juventud Guerrera. Amazingly, going 6-1 in those matches. He was the 1st ever Kamikaze Pro Champion in a historic 490 day reign, he is the only 2x Relentless Division Champion and the only man to hold both titles at the same time.
While they have had many issues in front of the camera. With Pete constantly being screwed over by Ryan’s Bigger Picture comrades, including Marshall X hitting Dunne with the Relentless Title to allow Ryan to defeat him for it. They have certainly not seen eye to eye behind the scenes. Due to the tension between them, the locker room is 10 times calmer when 1 of the 2 of these men are not around for a show.
At Monster II, Pete Dunne finally had enough of The Bigger Picture after they attacked Will Ospreay after a classic match. He ran out with a steel chair to run them off. He then challenged Smile to a match to end this once and for all, Smile then upped the stakes which Dunne agreed.
Unfortunately, this town is not big enough for both of them. We don’t know what will happen on August 27th but by August 28th one man will continue to entertain Kamikaze Pro audiences and one man will be gone.
