Southside Wrestling have announced a fourth contest for their August 13th event, ‘Menace II Society VI’ at the Rushcliffe Leisure Centre in Nottingham.
It has been confirmed that The Second City Collective’s “Number One” Damian Dunne and “The Badman” Marshall X will face “The Mexican Sensation” El Ligero and Bubblegum of Hubba Bubba Lucha in tag team action in Nottingham on August 13th at ‘Day Of Reckoning XII’.
Southside Wrestling announced the match with the following:
HUBBA BUBBA LUCHA DEBUT IN SOUTHSIDE! DAMIAN DUNNE WANTS TO MAKE A LASTING IMPRESSION!
Bubblegum made an immediate impression in Southside on his return with a great showing against Tommy End. It had been four years since Bubblegum had stepped in a Southside ring, and it was also his debut in Stevenage, however Bubblegum really did feel like such a good fit to the Southside roster. Making an unscheduled debut in Sheffield for Southside the next day, he was involved in a six-man match with former long-term tag team partner, El Ligero. It has been 10 years since the team of Hubba Bubba Lucha were a permanent fixture on British wrestling show cards – Saturday the 13th of August will see Hubba Bubba Lucha back in action and for the first time ever in Southside.
We don’t think either man envisioned a reunion of Hubba Bubba Lucha in Southside. They spent three years against each other up and down the country after they went their seperate ways. However El Ligero now sees the power that strength in numbers can achieve as it took him teaming with Nixon, Hardcore Holly and, similar to Bubblegum, a former friend and tag team partner that he spent a long time no longer seeing eye to eye with, Martin Kirby to finally end The Righteous Army. It was in Sheffield that these two crossed paths, and it was from that match that Ligero and Bubblegum began to discuss teaming up again.
Sheffield saw the end of a tag team however and also the end of the Second City Collective’s 10 month reign as Southside Tag Team Champions. Going at it alone, Damian Dunne wants to show why he is called “Number One”. Dunne originally challenged El Ligero to a match, knowing full well that as Ligero was the last person to submit the Southside Heavyweight Champion, Joseph Conners, Ligero was at or near the top of the pecking order for a title shot. When we informed Dunne that Ligero and Bubblegum had expressed an interest towards re-forming Hubba Bubba Lucha, it didn’t take long for Dunne to come back and advise Southside management that he had found a partner in Marshall X.
Dunne and Marshall X are no strangers to each other after teaming several times together. And after breaking Stixx’s nose back in March, Marshall has really seemed to have it out for “The Heavyweight House Of Pain”. With Stixx and Chris Tyler our brand new Southside Tag Team Champions, we have heard Marshall has said to anyone who will listen that he plans to be the one to take those newly won belts away from Stixx. Now, teaming with a former Southside Tag Team Champion and facing a team that has won multiple Tag Team Title’s across the UK in the past, if he could convince Dunne to take this team further, he might have found the person to help him take away Stixx’s gold.
Tickets are on sale for Saturday the 13th of August in Nottingham right now from the website.
